Construction Laborer - Midvale, ID

MTE Communications (a small, employee-owned, customer-centered company) is looking for an energetic, conscientious and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a team environment and takes pride in their career.

We are seeking to fill a (6-month) Temporary Full-Time Construction Laborer position to work on our outside telephone plant construction activities throughout Idaho. The position may require significant travel and work in remote areas of the state. In addition, the qualifying candidate would need to operate a variety of small and heavy equipment. This position is based out of Midvale, ID.

Job Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Idaho Outside Plant Manager
Base Pay:
Type of Position: Temporary Full-Time (Non-Exempt) Hourly
Hours: 40 / week
Qualifications: Able to work around heavy equipment, including shoveling and hand excavation. Maintain a valid driver's license (a CDL Class A license a plus). Telephone construction experience a plus.
Closing Date: 04/03/2017

General Description: Assist with the installation of telephone plant, conduit, vaults, pedestals, and other telephone equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
*Operate company standard-transmission vehicles or small equipment with proper training, as requested
*Use and maintain hand tools
*Work outside in various weather conditions
*Perform manual labor tasks, including shoveling and hand excavation
*Work around heavy equipment
*Lift 50 lbs., work at varied heights, squat, walk, and stand for long periods and climb ladders
*Be willing to travel for company business or training
*Be willing to cross train in other job duties as requested
*Exhibit ethical behavior including honesty and confidentiality at all times
*Be able to respond to emergencies and outages
*Be courteous with customers and represent MTE in a positive manner
*Maintain a valid drivers license (CDL a plus) and meet our insurance company's guidelines to be insurable
*Follow proper safety procedures, comply with company, state, and OSHA safety standards
*Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Preferred Skills and Work Experience:
*Able to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
*Have basic computer skills and experience with MS Office
*Have competent communication and organizational skills
*Second language a plus

Preferred Education:
*High School diploma or GED equivalent
