MTE Communications is seeking an energetic, conscientious and detail-oriented individual who enjoys making a difference and would like to be part of an employee owned company.

 We are accepting applications for a full-time Network Operations Manager, based in Midvale, ID.  The Network Operations Manager is responsible for the management of System and Network Administration personnel; Technical Support personnel; Cyber and Network Security; maintenance and development of the broadband networks to exceed both regulatory requirements and customer expectation.  The position oversees all platforms of voice and broadband services to include DSL, FTTH, and Fixed Wireless.

 Type of Position:                     Full-Time (Exempt) Salaried

 Hours:                                     40 / Week

 Closing Date:                          Open until filled  

 Qualifications:                         Experience with Internet services and the electronic devices that connect to the                                                           Internet.

Job Description


Job Title: Network Operations Manager

 Division/Department: Network Operations

 Location: Midvale, ID

 Job Classification: Exempt

 Reports to: COO

 Base Pay:

 Type of Position: Full-Time

 Hours: 40/week


General Description: Responsible for the oversight and management of network operations including customer and staff technical support, cyber and network security, provisioning, design and installation of data and TDM network equipment, Network Operations Center (NOC), company computers and networking platforms.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Support service technicians, switch technicians, network security, broadband networks, fiber & carrier system networks, fixed broadband wireless networks, microwave systems, DC Power Systems, Intra and Intercompany circuits and hardware/software issues.

  • Member of the Management Group team and attends meetings

  • Participates in the evaluation, planning, and management of projects

  • Train and evaluate the performance of personnel and other staff that may be temporarily assigned.

  • Supervision and support of personnel responsible for:

    • System administration

    • Network Administration

    • CO and Carrier networks that deliver voice and broadband service

      • Fiber, DSL, Fix Wireless etc

    • Customer Technical Support

    • Staff Help Desk and PC support

  • Responsible for hardware and software projections, recommendations, purchase, installation, and support

  • Provide data reports as required to aid in management decisions.

  • Establishes practices for monitoring a network/system to maintain quality performance standards

  • Support and participate as required in an On-Call NOC rotation

  • Must be able to respond to emergencies and outages

  • Meet with staff, vendors, and others to improve relations and resolve issues

  • Be willing to travel for company business or training

  • Be willing to cross train in other job duties as requested

  • Research and investigate new technologies

  • Exhibit ethical behavior including honesty & confidentiality at all times

  • Facilitate the working relationships with outside entities

  • Be courteous with customers and represent MTE in a positive manner

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet our insurance company’s guidelines to be insurable

  • Responsible to contribute to the total success of the company

  • Participate as a member of the Management Group Team


Preferred Skills and Work Experience:

  • Work independently

  • Supervision and management of personnel

  • Project management

  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action

  • Understand data networking, including cabling, routing, protocols, and security

  • Understanding of server administration, including AS/400, Linux/Unix, and MS Windows

  • Have programming knowledge

  • Proficient knowledge of voice and data networks including: SS7, GR-303, VoIP, MPLS, Frame Relay, Ethernet, QOS, VPN, SIP, MGCP, and IP routing

  • Proficient in multiple vendor carrier platforms including ADTRAN TA5000, Calix E Series, C Series

  • Microwave systems / networks

  • Cambium or other Fixed Wireless Network Administration

  • Be familiar with telecommunications industry

  • Experience in telephony networks

  • PSTN Fundamentals

  • Have five years experience in computer and network operations

  • Have computer skills, and experience with MS Office

  • Have competent communication and organizational skills

  • Second language a plus


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent work experience
