Job Opening: Service Technician

Division/Department: Idaho Outside Plant


Location: Weiser, Idaho


Job Classification: Non-exempt


Reports to: Idaho Outside Plant Manager


Type of Position: Full-Time (Non-Exempt) Hourly. Includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and ESOP benefits


Hours: 40/week


Wage Range (DOE): $15.00 to $18.00/hour


Closing Date: October 23, 2018


General Description: Work with the ID Outside Plant Manager to complete installs, trouble reports, locates, C.O. and outside plant maintenance.


Job Responsibilities



  • Be able to work with customer service representatives and other employees to resolve customers' requests and problems

  • Be able to install service drops and main cable for telephone service

  • Will participate in on-call rotation

  • Follow proper safety procedures and comply with company and appropriate agencies' safety standards

  • Be courteous with customers and represent MTE in a positive manner

  • Ability to operate and maintain vehicles, utility equipment (e.g. trenchers, bucket trucks, plows, etc.)

  • Attend meetings and conference calls as scheduled

  • Maintain a valid driver's license, CDL is a plus, and meet our insurance company's guidelines to be insurable

  • Occasionally required to work long hours in various weather conditions

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs, work at varied heights, squat, stand for long periods, and climb ladders

  • Be willing to travel for company business or training

  • Be willing to cross train in other job duties as requested

  • Research and investigate new technologies

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

  • Exhibit ethical behavior including honesty and confidentiality at all times

  • Facilitate the working relationships with outside entities

  • Be able to respond to emergencies and outages, and available to do updates on non-peak hours


Exchange-Specific Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and install point-to-multipoint wireless equipment


Preferred Skills and Work Experience:



  • Be able to operate light construction equipment

  • Some technical background a plus

  • Possess basic computer skills including MS Office

  • Be able to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action

  • Possess competent communication and organizational skills

  • Second language a plus


Preferred Education:



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent


Qualifications: Be able to test, turn-up DSL, FTTH installation and maintenance, fixed wireless installation and maintenance.
